Lenora Cook

Lenora Cook, Ed.D, RN, Lt Col (ret)

Lenora Cook, Ed.D, RN, Lt Col (ret) is on the Board of Directors for Healing Paws for Warriors (H4PWS); providing non-profit organizational guidance.

Lenora served 23 years active duty in the United States Air Force.  For ten years she served as a Flight Nurse and deployed to the war zone four times in Iraq and Afghanistan.  During her two 365-day deployments to Afghanistan in 2007-2008 and 2010-20ll, she was an airlift planner in charge of moving injured troops and miliary working dogs.  In addition to planning missions, she flew aeromedical evacuation mission as a senior flight nurse and transported injured troops and military work dogs within the war zone to Germany.

Her last assignment was at Eglin Air Force Base where she retired in 2019.  After retiring, she has continued to teach Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support to Nurses and Physicians at the Eglin Air Force Base. In addition, Lenora and her husband Mike participated in Homeless Veterans Stand Down Days in the past. She also coordinated volunteers from the nursing program at NWF State College to participate.

 

Currently, Lenora is an Adjunct Professor of Nursing at Northwest Florida State College.  She teaches part-time in the Associate Degree and Bachelorette Degree Programs Nursing programs.  In addition, she is an active member of the FloridaOne Disaster Medical Assistance Team (FL-1 DMAT) and Resilience/Stress Trainer.  She has deployed to Texas, Wisconsin, and Maine to care for Covid patients as part of the FL-1 DMAT and Pensacola, FL as a Resilience/Stress Trainer. 

  

Lenora spends her “down time” with her husband Mike, her father-in-law Robert, and their four-legged furry babies which includes dogs and cats.  She lives her life inspired by a quote from Bob Marley, "The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively".
