Matt McKenna

Matt McKenna serves on the Board of Directors for Healing Paws for Warriors (HP4Ws), bringing the unique perspective of a program graduate and a deep commitment to helping others overcome life's challenges.

Matt served more than 21 years in the United States Air Force, including 17 years as a Combat Controller in Air Force Special Operations, before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. Throughout his military career, he led people and organizations in some of the nation's most demanding environments. Today, he continues supporting the defense community through his work in human resources and organizational leadership.

As a graduate of Healing Paws for Warriors Class 22, Matt experienced firsthand the impact of the program. Partnering with his Australian Kelpie, Jack, helped him reconnect with the people who matter most and move forward with renewed purpose. That experience inspired Matt to volunteer to serve on the Board of Directors, where he is honored to help ensure other veterans have the opportunity to experience the same support, hope, and renewed purpose that Healing Paws for Warriors made possible in his own life.

Matt believes that no veteran should have to face life's challenges alone. Guided by a simple philosophy: "Find a way, make a way", he is committed to helping Healing Paws for Warriors expand its impact so more veterans can find hope, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose through the extraordinary bond between a veteran and a rescue dog.

Matt, his wife Jamie, their three children, and Jack proudly call Florida's Emerald Coast home.
